100 Years Ago: 1923
The Libby Thimble Club held its regular monthly meeting in the Pleasant Street Hall last evening. A fine musical program was furnished by the club orchestra and vocal selections were given by several members of the organization. Games were also enjoyed. The supper which preceded the meeting was served by Albert Jordan.
50 Years Ago: 1973
(AP photo) Gerald R. Ford is sworn in as the 40th Vice President of the United States Thursday evening in the House Chamber of the Capitol. Chief Justice Warren Burger swore Ford in as Mrs. Ford holds the bible for her husband. President Nixon watches the ceremony along with Carl Albert, the Speaker of the House and James O. Eastland, President Pro Tem of the Senate.
25 Years Ago: 1998
Auburn Senior Citizens are being invited to combine Chanukah and Christmas for a party from 10 am to noon, Monday Dec 14, at the Hasty Community Center multi-purpose rooms, 48 Pettengill Park.
In addition to socializing, singing carols and serving refreshments seniors can play pool, table tennis, games and cards.
Mayor Lee Young and other city officials are expected to join Auburn seniors in their fest.
