MECHANIC FALLS – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deane Ivan Fifield, known by many as “Ivan Badchec”, on Dec. 4, 2023. Born to Pearl and Ivan Fifield on May 18, 1957. Deane was a 1975 graduate of Edward Little High School. He enlisted in The U.S. Army, doing a short deployment in Germany.
He was a man who held several jobs over the years, from being the owner of Ivan’s General Store, to carpentry and driving truck, to name a few. However, where he really shined was with one of his many guitars in his hands, and a mic in front of him. He played at many venues in the area and away. He was a very talented musician and also a talented artist, with many drawings. After retirement, he started delivering papers for The Sun Journal where many customers were upset when he gave that up.
Deane lived life his way and nobody was going to change that.
He leaves behind his parents, Pearl and Ivan Fifield, his brother David and sister-in-law Cathy, his brother Dale, his uncle Armand and aunt Mary, many cousins, nieces and nephews, his lifelong friends, Brian and Sue Spiller, good friend Stephen “Chester” Manchester II, and his dog Johan. He will be missed by many relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at Chandler Funeral Home, 26 W Dwinal Street Mechanic Falls, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., with a service immediately following at noon.
