Miss Lillian Rivard, a member of the Jordan High School senior typing class has been awarded a Certificate of Proficiency by the L.C. Smith Co. for writing at the ratio of thirty-six minutes for fifteen consecutive minutes.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Someone with a low IQ has damaged several panels of the recently installed wooden windbreakers on the North Bridge. It appears that sections of bottom panels were kicked in and top portions of the boards damaged with blunt instruments. In some cases, entire panels are missing. Auburn police informed the State Department of Transportation this morning, and repairs are to be made.

25 Years Ago: 1998

Mayor Kalleigh A. Tara announces that Executive Assistant Dot Perham-Whittier has been chosen as Androscoggin County United Way’s Employee Campaign Manager of the Year within the Public Service Division. Perham-Whittier has played a leadership role in the city’s United Way campaign for several years. Lewiston raised $21,002.24 and was the top fund-raiser within the Public Services Division. Assistant City Administrator Peter Cricton, Public Service Division chairman for the 1988-99 campaign notes, “Dot has done an outstanding job for many years.”
