Janice Hodsdon Hall
DIXFIELD – Janice H. Hall, 89, of Dixfield, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Canton, under hospice care.
She was born in Rumford, Aug. 7, 1934, a daughter of Joseph and Elva (Polland) Hodsdon. She graduated from Dixfield High School, class of 1953. Some of her occupations included waitressing at the Hi Spot Restaurant, telephone “Switchboard” exchanges operator, apple picking at Berry Hill Orchards, cashier at Home’s Market and homemaker for her husband and nine children.
On May 14,1955, she married Conrad W. Hall at the St Athanasius Rectory in Rumford.
Janice had a great love for cooking, baking, reading, knitting, hiking (especially Pigeon Hill/Steuben), bird watching and playing cards weekly with her sisters and friends.
She is survived by her nine children, Nate Hall and his wife Diane of Topsham, Joseph Hall and his wife Becky of Peru, John Hall of Wells, Sarah Ellis and her husband Kurt of Peru, Chris Hall and his wife Linda of Peru, Dana Hall and his wife Sherry of Dixfield, Matthew Hall of Oklahoma City, Clinton Hall and his wife Julie of Dixfield and Jennifer Swan of Augusta; a brother Kenneth Hodsdon and his wife Marilyn of Bangor, a sister Jacqueline “Jackie” Oldham of Peru; 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Conrad of 56 years, her parents and two sisters, Josephine Hamel and Phyllis Prue.
The family would like to thank all the amazing caregivers of Pinnacle Health and Rehab who treated our mother as family during her final months of life.
Family and friends are invited to attend an informal Celebration of Life on Friday December 22, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., at Meader and Son, 3 Franklin Street, Rumford.
