A mother and daughter who authorities believe were abducted Thursday morning were found safe late Thursday night in New York.

A man forced Norma Rodondi Jimbikt, 35, and her daughter, Angie Rodondi, 3, into a white Ford Explorer with New York license plates around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said.
Saco Police Chief Jack Clements said Friday that two people were reported missing from Elm Street on Thursday. It appeared on footage from surveillance cameras that Jimbikt and her daughter were pushed into the SUV immediately before it left the area, he said.
“Based on information from the reporting party as well as video surveillance, it was believed that the individuals had been abducted.”
An Amber alert was issued Thursday evening and was canceled early Friday, around 12:45 a.m. after the two were found safe, Moss said.
The Ford Explorer passed through a toll plaza into New York state at 3:41 p.m., Moss said.
The mother and daughter, who had been living in the Biddeford area, were found unharmed by the FBI in New York. The car was also found in Peekskill, New York, Clements said.
Police have not released any information about a possible suspect or the circumstances under which Jimbikt and her daughter were found.
Clements said Saco police worked with the Biddeford police, state police and the FBI to find Jimbikt and Rodondi. As the investigation widened, they were assisted by the Framingham Police Department in Massachusetts and the New York State Police.
