DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Pleasant Street Drop-In Center has an urgent need for warm winter jackets, warm boots, mittens, gloves, scarves, hand warmers, blankets, flashlights, small tissue packets and body wipes.

If anyone has warm clothing to donate, please drop it off at the 169 Pleasant St. in Auburn. We are open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon. Thank you for your generosity and support! — No name, Auburn

ANSWER: Thank you for everything you’re doing to help the unhoused in our area. You all have hearts of gold.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: When everyone is done with your (real) Christmas tree, feel free to drop it at Iron Leaf Farm at 124 Neck Road in Litchfield. Extra trees will be shared with other local farms.

Undecorated trees can be left at any time by the driveway or next to the barn. If you’d like to visit the goats, join us for our Annual Tree Drop on Saturday, Jan. 6, from noon until 4 p.m. There will be a fire, hot cocoa and goat watching.

Pine needles provide trace nutrients, antioxidants, minerals and forage to goats, in addition to being a natural dewormer. The goats strip the tree of both needles and bark.

ANSWER: I’m sure there are other deserving goats in the area as well so write in if you know of any other places accepting trees.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I watch very little TV so I’m content with a window antenna as it enables me to get WCSH, and a variety of other channels.Lo and behold, one of my favorite channels, TWIST, has disappeared. It had a variety of shows, my favorite being, “Tiny House Nation.” Where has TWIST gone?Years ago there was another channel, ME-TV that also disappeared. It had great oldie sitcoms like “MASH,” “The Waltons,” “Father Knows Best” and westerns. Why do these wonderful channels just disappear? — No name, no town

ANSWER: TWIST was scheduled to go off the air Dec. 31, but left early. As far as “why,” streaming channels (and shows) are victims of the “cancel culture” rampant these days. There is no other explanation given on the station website or on social media.

Have you tried looking for ME-TV on 08-2 to 8.4 (WMTW out of Poland Springs)? You should be able to get it but you may need to conduct a rescan, an update to your television by using the menu button to retune all available signals.

In many instances, if a station changes frequency, the TV needs to be instructed to “rescan” the frequencies to find any new ones available. Specific rescan steps vary by manufacturer. www.fcc.gov/rescan is a resource for more information.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Thanks for the recent book recommendations. I kept the list for future reference and have a few on hold with Library Cloud. You are appreciated. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: Thanks for the positive feedback on the Christmas book list. I thought to add “Little Women” and “Little House on the Prairie.” Both of those cozy stories are very appealing during the holidays and through the winter.
