Jeremiah Meader, 42, of Smithfield was driving his side-by-side UTV across the pond with his wife and two other adult passengers at about 1 a.m. Sunday when it broke through the ice, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife.

New to Lewiston, couple connect with and help the homeless
Stacey and Terry Stibbards moved to Lewiston late last spring shortly before Terry found out he had Stage 4 cancer. When they moved from Silicon Valley in California, they shed most of their possessions and have been focusing on helping Lewiston’s homeless on a face-to-face level.
