Maine State Police say the death of a person who died in an apartment in Bar Harbor on Sunday does not appear to be suspicious.

Investigators made that determination following an autopsy that was performed Monday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a statement Tuesday.

The Bar Harbor Police Department responded to the report of a death around 11:40 a.m. Sunday at an apartment on Des Isle Avenue, and Maine State Police were called in to assist Bar Harbor police with the investigation, Moss said.

On Monday, Bar Harbor Police Chief David Kerns did not respond to questions about the person who died, where or when the body was found, or how long police had been investigating. He said there was no danger to the public.
