LEWISTON — Geiger, a family-owned promotional products distributor, has celebrated a double win in sustainability, with its U.S. and U.K. operations receiving EcoVadis recognitions in 2023.

Geiger’s global headquarters in the U.S. achieved a Gold rating for the first time, placing it among the top 5% of companies assessed globally. In June 2023, Geiger’s UK office received Platinum status for the second consecutive year, solidifying its position among the top 1%.

Geiger is the first and only major promotional products distributor to hold a Gold rating in the U.S., according to a news release from the Lewiston-based company.

EcoVadis, a provider of business sustainability ratings, evaluates companies across four key pillars: Environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. To achieve Gold, companies must score above 70% overall, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable practices.

“Far beyond products, it’s our purpose,” said Jo-an Lantz, Geiger’s president and CEO. “Geiger’s latest Gold award reflects our commitment to sustainable sourcing and operations across the globe. This EcoVadis recognition fuels our mission to create a greener future, one product, one choice at a time.”

Geiger’s U.S. headquarters is powered by a nearly 700-panel solar array, demonstrating a commitment to renewable energy and energy efficiency. The company also has a division responsible for vetting suppliers, ensuring ethical practices and minimizing environmental impact throughout the supply chain.

Geiger was also one of the first donors of the SHAREcenter, an upcycling nonprofit in Lewiston. The SHAREcenter program collects unwanted goods, such as furniture, paper, craft supplies and promotional products, and gets them in the hands of local educators and community members in need.
