100 Years Ago: 1924

Lewiston schools  was the subject for some discussion at the meeting of the school board last evening, at which time Supt. Bickford pointed out that unless special provision was made, some 30 or more beginners would be obliged to stay away from school. The matter of appointment of a teacher to fill the vacancy in the Webster Road School caused by the resignation of Catherine Ricker, was left with the power committee on teachers with the power to act.

50 Years Ago: 1974

The work of Charles Dodge of Pleasant Point and Gregory Kelleher of York will be shown at the winter exhibition at the Maine Art Gallery, Wiscasset. Dodge will exhibit oils of landscapes and flowers and Kelleher’ work in acrylic paintings and metal sculpture are tonal and form abstractions.

25 Years Ago: 1999

“Laughter: The Best Medicine” will be the focus of a Horizon/55 program from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Wednesday at the Senior Health Information Center, at the Lewiston Mall. Horizon/55 manager Barbara Aliberti will facilitate a discussion on “funny experiences.”
