RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. — Ella Lavigne finished with a double-double in Central Maine Community College’s 80-61 victory over Vermont State University-Randolph in a Yankee Small College Conference women’s basketball game Saturday afternoon.
Lavigne compiled a game-high 25 points and brought down 10 rebounds.
Rosa Prieto finished with 24 points and Destiny Mora Lopez dropped in 10 points in the win for the Mustangs (12-1, 6-1 YSCC).
Among area graduates, Molly Corbett (Oxford Hills) had five points and three rebounds, Chantel Ouellette produced two points, four rebounds and two assists, Winnie LaRochelle (Rangeley) had six points, six rebounds and three assists as the top reserve, and Aiwen Maiwen (Edward Little) pulled down two rebounds off the bench.
Yvonne Roberge led the Knights with 24 points and Arna Amundadottir had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (3-6, 2-4).
BATES 59, AMHERST 41: Elsa Daulerio scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Bobcats (14-2, 3-0 NESCAC) beat the Mammoths (13-2, 2-2) in Lewiston.
Sarah Hughes added 11 points and Morgan Kennedy scored 10 for Bates.
SUNY MORRISVILLE 59, UMF 34: Anyssia Ingersoll led a balanced Mustangs (5-12, 3-2 NAC) offense in a North Atlantic Conference victory over the Beavers (4-10, 2-3) in Morrisville, New York.
Abbie Platt and Josely Medina each contributed nine points for SUNY Morrisville.
Jessica Dow was UMaine-Farmington’s top scorer with eight points, and Ruby McMinis had six.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
SUNY MORRISVILLE 90, UMF 79: Daimarr Miller paced the Mustangs (13-2, 5-0 NAC) with 20 points in a North Atlantic Conference win over the Beavers (8-7, 2-4 NAC) in Morrisville, New York.
Shaheem Sanders and Brandon Kulakowski each had 14 points for Morrisville.
Kareem Sanders finished with 13 points in the win.
Dylan Griffin led UMF’s scoring attack with 16 points, with Jordan Anthony totaling 13. Simon Chadbourne helped in the effort with 12 points while Zachary Mickle and Ethan Forrester each had 10 points.
AMHERST 59, BATES 36: Bobby Sommers scored 13 points and Will Scherer added 10 as the Mammoths (10-7, 2-2 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (2-13, 0-3) in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Simon McCormick scored 11 points for Bates.
MEN’S HOCKEY
UCONN 2, MAINE 0: The University of Maine allowed two third-period goals and had its nine-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 2-0 loss to the University of Connecticut in a men’s Hockey East game on Saturday in Hartford, Connecticut.
Maine (14-4-2, 6-3-1 Hockey East) lost for the first time since Nov. 18.
Tabor Heaslip scored 22 seconds into the third period to give the Huskies (9-10-2, 5-7-1) a 1-0 lead. Joey Muldowney scored from Tristan Fraser later in the third for UConn.
Albin Boija stopped 12 shots for Maine, while Arsenii Sergeev made 29 saves for the Huskies.
