DEAR SUN SPOTS: A benefit bean supper at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus St. in Lewiston, is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

The proceeds are to benefit the family of Maverick, who was in a Boston hospital from birth until he was 9 months old. He had multiple heart surgeries since the day after he was born.

Doctors recently tried to install the Berlin Heart, a type of ventricular assist device, or VAD system, that is an external heart pumping machine that would have cycled his blood and cleansed it, but it did not work.

Mav was placed on life support, awaiting a heart transplant as soon as one is possible. Sadly, Mav lost the fight and died Dec. 21, 2023.

This benefit supper is to help Mav’s family with the immense expenses incurred, including costs of housing, food and travel to and from Boston, as well as funeral expenses and more.

Contributions at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. Those who attend can eat in or take out, and the building is accessible to those with handicaps.

ANSWER: My heart goes out to this dear family. I hope many Sun Spotters will attend this gathering.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the request for repair services for the digital piano (Sun Spots — Jan. 12), I recommend Alex’s Piano Service at 207-400-6009 or online for complete information.—Wanda, no town

ANSWER: You can try Alex (www.alexanderpeppe.com/), but I saw he is not taking new customers now. As I looked further on his web site, I did see a couple of recommendations: Starbird Music (www.starbirdmusic.com/, 207-775-2733) and Mindful Music (207-415-6663).

I am not sure these folks work on digital pianos, but I recommend following these little rabbit trails because even if these businesses cannot help you, they may know someone who can.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: For Arnold in Greenwood, Technics has an email he could use to inquire about the issue with the digital piano: audio-solutions@ atus.comThere is also a manual available at midimanuals/technics/sx-px103m/user_manual.

I hope this helps.—Fred, no town
