DEAR SUN SPOTS: On Jan. 11, I went to BJ’s in Auburn to gas up and paid $2.799 per gallon. I read on Facebook where a customer paid $2.179 on the same day at the same time. A photo was posted.

Is this fair to all of us who paid more? People posting on Facebook all seem to have paid a different price. We all go there for the same reason so I think we should all be refunded the difference by showing our receipts.

I know you will find out why. This just seems so unfair for those of us who all have memberships. You always find the answers. Thank you for your service. — No name, no town

ANSWER: BJ’s has all kinds of incentives and reward programs when purchasing gas. For example, if a customer has a BJ’s Capital One Master Card, they pay less, or if a certain amount of groceries are purchased and gas is bought the same day, a further discount is given.

If you are signed up for the Fuel Saver program, you can purchase “fuel saver” items in the store and save even more at the pump. You can “stack” these discounts. Refer to their website, https://www.bjs.com/gas for this information and more.

If you have more questions and since you have a Facebook account, you can send customer service a note regarding your concerns through private messenger and someone will respond to you.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I was wondering where to find the soup recipe supposedly on B2 of this past Sunday’s edition. The header on B1 said there was a recipe that helps with four meals, but I couldn’t find it. — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: The B2 page with EATS had to be remade at the last minute, and the designer missed removing the “tease” on B1. We apologize and rest assured EATS with the soup recipe will appear in this coming week’s B section. I’m looking forward to reading it too!
