LEWISTON — Marc Begin II paced the Bobcats with 25 points in a 94-68 win over Maine Maritime Academy in a non-conference men’s basketball game Tuesday at Alumni Gym.

Bates made 21 of 48 from 3-point range to set a program record for 3s made in a game, surpassing the 19 they made in 1990-91 against Thomas and in 2015-16 against UMaine-Farmington.

Begin made five 3s. Elliot Cravitz made 7 of 11 from long range and finished with 21 points and Simon McCormick (5 of 6 on treys) had 15 for the Bobcats. Trace Gotham added 10 points.

Curt Heinz led the Mariners with 22 points.

UMF’S REYNOLDS NAMED NAC’S TOP ROOKIE: University of Maine at Farmington freshman Jason Reynolds earned North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday.

Reynolds, of Winslow, notched 13 points in an 84-79 win against Bates College on Jan. 17, to go along with eight rebounds. He chipped in with eight points and 13 boards in the Beavers’ 77-68 loss to University of Maine at Presque Isle on Friday. Reynolds had a career-high 24 points on Sunday — including six 3-pointers — in a 92-87 win in a rematch against UMPI. He also had eight rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
CMCC 101, NHTI 38: Ella Lavigne led the Mustangs with 20 points in the win over the Lynx in Auburn.

Chantel Ouellette and Destiny Mora Lopez each had 11 points. Riley Hebler, Aiwen Maiwen and Winnie LaRochelle all had 10 points.

Emma Broadstone finished with 14 points for the Lynx and Maggie Brown had 11 points.

THOMAS 61, UMF 58: Elena Alderman paced the Terriers with 12 points to a rivalry win over the Beavers in Farmington.

Hannah Coolen and Emily Parent each had nine points.

Melissa Mayo led UMaine-Farmington with 12 points, while Sarah Poli, Jessica Dow and Ruby McMinis all had eight points.

DOW EARNS ROOKIE HONORS AGAIN: For the third time this season, Jessica Dow is the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

The University of Maine at Farmington freshman paced the Beavers with 18 points in a 47-46 win over Plymouth State on Jan. 15. She also had nine points and nine rebounds in Friday’s 53-48 victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Dow put home 19 points in Sunday’s 55-52 loss to UMPI. Dow also had seven rebounds and three steals.
