RANDOLPH CENTER, Vt. — Boston Caldwell scored five of his team-high 22 points in overtime and Jackson Birmingham’s two free throws were the difference as Central Maine Community College edged Vermont State University-Randolph 92-90 in a Yankee Small College Conference men’s basketball game Friday.

Harry Bates’ basket at the buzzer to end the second half sent the game to overtime tied 79-79. Another Bates basket with 57 seconds left in the extra session gave the Mustangs (7-10, 3-5 YSCC) the lead for good at 90-89. Birmingham split a pair of free throws twice the rest of the way and the Knights’ (14-6, 7-3 YSCC) last-ditch 3-point attempt by Jaylon Calvin was off the mark.

Jeremiah Simeon scored 20 points and dished out a game-high 11 assists for CMCC, and Bates had a double-double of his own with 19 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Tyler Allen led all scorers with 33 points for the Knights.

UMF 89, LYNDON 58: Jordan Anthony led five Beavers (12-8, 5-5 NAC) players in double figures as they rolled past the host Hornets (1-18, 1-8 NAC) in Lyndonville, Vermont.

Anthony scored a team-high 16 points, followed by Ethan Forrester (15), Cole Banks and Dylan Griffin (12 each), and Zachary Mickle with 10. Simon Chadbourne and Brayden St. Pierre scored nine apiece for University of Maine at Farmington, which shot 50% from the field (35 of 70) and 40.7% from behind the 3-point line (11 of 27)

Peyton Olsen paced all scorers with 20 points for Vermont State University Lyndon.

MIDDLEBURY 61, BATES 40: Evan Flaks scored a game-high 13 points as the Panthers (10-9, 4-2 NESCAC) won a low-scoring game against the Bobcats (3-16, 0-5 NESCAC) in Lewiston.

Tristan Joseph (11 points) and Kuba Cwalina (10) also finished in double figures for Middlebury.

Peter Psyhogeos was the leading scorer for Bates, with eight points, to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
BATES 65, MIDDLEBURY 54: The Bobcats (17-2, 5-0 NESCAC) earned their eighth straight game by downing the Panthers (12-7, 4-2) in Middlebury, Vermont.

Sarah Hughes made 5 of 7 from 3-point range and led Bates with 19 points. She also pulled down seven rebounds. Morgan Kennedy added 12 points, while Elsa Daulerio finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Davina Kabantu tallied 10 points and nine rebounds.

Middlebury’s Alexa Mustafaj led all scorers with 21 points.

UMF 64, LYNDON 58: A big fourth quarter vaulted the Beavers (7-12, 4-5 NAC) past the Hornets (5-13, 0-9 NAC) in Lyndonville, Vermont.

Jessica Dow scored a team-high 21 points for University of Maine at Farmington, which outscored Vermont State University Lyndon 16-6 in the final period. Sarah Poli pitched in with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Riann Fortin led the Hornets with a game-high 28 points.
