HIRAM — A second fourth-quarter rally attempt in as many days fell just short for Telstar/Gould, 56-53 against Sacopee Valley in a boys basketball game Friday.

Dylan Capano scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the Hawks (6-7) held off a late comeback bid by the Rebels (4-9), who shocked Maranacook to complete a rally Thursday.

Bryce Stacey added 16 points for Sacopee Valley, while Silas Nielsen had 12 points and 13 boards.

Reiley Hedden sparked a fourth-quarter rally by making five 3-pointers as the Rebels nearly erased a 39-28 deficit. Hedden finished with 21 points, and Thursday’s hero Brody Morgan tossed in 18.

RANGELEY 81, NORTH HAVEN 53: Anthony Whitter was unstoppable in the first half for the Lakers (3-9) in their win over the Hawks (0-9) in Rangeley.

Whittier scored 28 of his game-high 32 points in the first half, and he also finished the game with 13 rebounds. The Lakers were balanced behind him, with Caleb Slagg scoring nine points and Sam Morrill, Brayden Thompson and Elijah Thomas each adding eight apiece.

Jonathan Brown led North Haven with 24 points and Bret Waterman scored 14.
