Monday morning is off to a messy start. Heavy wet snow will linger on vehicles and roads for much of the morning commute.

The best chance for seeing higher accumulations will be in interior York and Cumberland counties, where 3 to 6 inches is possible. A coating to 2 inches is likely across the north, while most will see between 2-4 inches.

Highs will be in the 30s for Monday, the mid-30s by Monday afternoon. After the messy morning, things will turn a lot drier, especially for the evening commute.

The heaviest snowfall will linger until 6-8 a.m. Until about mid-morning, light snow showers and flurries are possible.

Temperatures will linger in the mid-30s before lunchtime.

As we head towards dinnertime, there is a chance for a passing snow shower or possible snow squall in interior Cumberland, interior York and Androscoggin counties.

After the snow this morning, we’re looking at a dry week. A cold front moves through later Monday night into Tuesday, which will send temperatures into the single digits overnight. Highs on Tuesday will run into the low-20s.

Tuesday morning will be a bit breezy with winds from the north at 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wind chill values will be in the negative early Tuesday morning.

Beyond that, we’ll be dry with sun and clouds. The next chance for both rain and snow will be Friday and Saturday.
