FARMINGTON — Farmington Police Department received report of someone impersonating a police officer Tuesday morning on state Route 133.
The caller was not directly involved in the incident, but shared the information in the interest of public safety, Farmington Police Chief Kenneth Charles wrote in a release.
There were several Facebook posts about the situation.
The alleged victim was, at the time, unwilling to be identified or provide a statement. Police continued to investigate the information, nonetheless, Charles said. However, without a named victim or the specific circumstances of the incident, no news release could be made.
The victim in this case has since been identified, he wrote.
“It was determined that the incident did not occur in Farmington and the person was referred to the appropriate police agency for further investigation,” Charles wrote.
Farmington police will continue to assist the investigating agency if requested.
