LEWISTON — A Raleigh, North Carolina, woman wanted in that state for repeatedly stabbing a man in November, was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service in Lewiston.
Marshals, along with Lewiston and Maine State Police, said they found Alyalia Chaibounmingkhouan, 19, at a home on Blake Street and arrested her on warrants charging her with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. She is also charged in the warrant with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to media reports, the charges stem from a road rage incident in November during which Chaibounmingkhouan stabbed a man several times as he was fighting with Chaibounmingkhouan’s boyfriend.
A warrant for Chaibounmingkhouan’s arrested was issued in North Carolina on Nov. 7, 2023. Police had been searching for her since.
The U.S. Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force provided information to police in Maine that Chaibounmingkhouan may have been hiding out in downtown Lewiston.
Police from several agencies went to the residence on Blake Street on Thursday where Chaibounmingkhouan was arrested without incident, police said.
