RUMFORD — A & G Custom Cabinets and Carpentry (7-3, 2nd place) played a well-balanced game and pulled off an upset, giving Hotel Rumford (8-2, 1st place) it’s second straight loss, 84-73. The game was close until A & G pulled away late, highlighted by some good defense, turnover conversions, and clutch shooting. Meanwhile, The Hotel simply went flat.
A & G placed 5 players in double figures in their new look, balanced offense, Mateo Lapointe 20 points (3 threes), Keagan Pitcher 15 (4 threes), Malik Farley and Kalen Chase 14 each and Joe Gaudreau 11. The Hotel’s high scorers were Tom Danylik 29, JT Taylor 16 (4 threes), and Owen Jones 10.
In another competitive game, Mt Blue (7-3, 4th place) got a foul on a last second three-point attempt from 28 feet, as Justin Evens hit 3 foul shots to seal a 94-91 victory over Clean Cut Painting (5-5, 5th place). The foul was vehemently protested and induced technical fouls that made the win an afterthought.
Mt Blue’s Cam Sennick was tough inside and led with 28 points, Turner added 22 (4 threes), Jake Farnum 20 (6 threes) and Levi Meader 11. Clean Cut’s Will Bean had an excellent all-around game including 29 points (5 threes), Jeven Smith had 24, Al Smith 15 and Sean Caddigan 10.
In other games, Jay (4-6, 6th place) ran away from Dixfield (2-8, 7th place) in the second half, beating them, 77-50. Jay was led by Logan Sumner with 34 points (4 threes), Levi Armandi 16 (4 threes) and Steve Dougher 11. Dixfield had 3 high scorers, Jake Bessey and Arick Richard 14 points and Gavin Hebert had 12.
Then Smart Care PT Inc (7-3, 2nd place) annihilated Stix & Stones (0-10), 107-50. The winners’ Trenton Hutchinson ran wild with 35 points (5 threes). He was helped by Dakota Tompkins 22 (6 threes), Austin Adams 19 (4 threes) and Ben Holmes 17. S & S’s Trey Lane had a team high of 25 points.
