MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Morgan Kennedy led Bates College’s scoring attack with 16 points in a 71-56 victory over Wesleyan in a NESCAC women’s basketball regular-season finale Saturday afternoon.

Sophie Spolter chipped in with 14 points and Davina Kabantu had 13 for the Bobcats (20-4, 8-2) in the win, which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Felicia Fongemie led the Cardinals (11-11, 2-8) with 14 points and Alli Jones had 13 points.

UMA 72, UMF 69: Alisyn Alley led the Moose (16-5) with 17 points in the win over the Beavers (7-17) in Farmington.

She made two free throws at the end of the game to seal the victory.

Alicen Higgins finished with 14 points in the victory and Sage Fortin had 11 points. Monmouth grad Kaeti Butterfield contributed with 10 points.

Jessica Dow led UMaine-Farmington with 22 points and Jaycie Stevens dropped in 15. Maddy White missed a 3 at the buzzer to tie the game.

MAINE 67, UNH 48: Anne Simon made five 3-pointers and finished with 33 points as the University of Maine beat the University of New Hampshire in an America East women’s basketball game in Orono.

Simon, who sat out the Black Bears’ game on Feb. 3 with an ankle injury, was 12 for 19 from the field and 5 for 9 from 3-point range. Adrianna Smith added 10 points and 17 rebounds for Maine (16-8, 9-1 America East), which earned its fourth straight win. Sarah Talon added 15 points.

Lucia Melero scored 12 points for New Hampshire (9-15, 3-8).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

UMF 106, UMA 80: Zachary Mickle lead all scorers with 37 points in the Beavers’ (17-8) win over the Moose (13-11) in Farmington.

Simon Chadbourne had 18 points, while Mason Desjardins dropped in 15. Also, Ethan Forrester had 12 and Brock Flagg had 10.

Yonas Medfu paced UMaine-Augusta with 19 points with Elijah Smith recorded 18. Trevor Beals scored 16 and Donte Sharp had 11.

WESLEYAN 79, BATES 54: Shane Regan led the Cardinals (13-11, 4-6 NESCAC) with 21 points in the win over the Bobcats (3-21, 0-10) on senior day in Lewiston.

Fritz Hauser finished with 16 for Wesleyan and Nicky Johnson dropped in 14 in the win.

Simon McCormick led Bates with 13 points and Marc Begin II was right behind him with 12.

NEW HAMPSHIRE 60, MAINE 57: Jaxson Baker scored 11 of his 18 points in the second half as the Wildcats (14-9, 6-4 America East) edged the Black Bears (11-13, 3-6) in Durham, New Hampshire.

Peter Filipovity paced Maine with 20 points. Jaden Clayton added 12 and Kellen Tynes had 10.

MEN’S HOCKEY
PROVIDENCE 4, MAINE 3, OT: Guillaume Richard scored a power-play goal 23 seconds into overtime as 10th-ranked Providence handed seventh-ranked Maine its first home loss of the season, rallying Saturday night for a 4-3 Hockey East victory at Alfond Arena in Orono.

The Friars (16-9-2, 9-6-2 Hockey East) erased three one-goal deficits. Hudson Malinoski tied the game at 3-3 with 4:33 remaining in regulation.

Maine (18-6-2, 10-5-1) scored three power-play goals, one in each period, by Josh Nadeau, Ben Poisson and Brandon Chabrier. Chabrier gave the Black Bears a 3-2 lead at 11:01 of the third, just 1:07 after Providence’s Graham Gamache tied the game with a power-play goal.

Bradly Nadeau assisted on all three Maine goals.
