What’s in a name? We’ve heard it said that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.

I think there are times, though, when the name itself becomes synonymous with a meaning, like the name Rep. Laurel Libby.

When I hear her name I instantly think of the word “principled.” A strong advocate for individual liberty and personal responsibility, she tirelessly fights to give us a more limited government.

Always wanting transparency in Augusta, she informs Mainers of behind-the-scenes happenings on her many live postings on Facebook. A sacrificial leader who people want to follow, she has thick skin and perseveres in what she knows to be the right thing to do, even if it costs her politically.

Laurel Libby is a name I want to hear more of in Augusta. We need principled leaders who will put the people of Maine over the interests of governmental power.
