Roger Denis LeBel

SABATTUS – Roger Denis LeBel, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend, went home to his Lord Jan. 31, 2024. He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 6, 1936, a son of Roger N. and Jeanne L. (Gagnon) LeBel.

Roger graduated in 1955 from Litchfield Academy, where he became a volunteer with the Litchfield Fire Department and joined the Army Reserves, which he enjoyed serving in for 5 years. He started his career with the Lewiston Fire Department on Jan. 2, 1966 and retired on Jan. 31, 1990 as a Senior Private. He also volunteered with the Sabattus Fire Department. On his days off from the fire station, he delivered beverages for Eastern Distributors and then started delivering oil for many companies, finally working for Dead River/Webber whom he enjoyed working for until his retirement.

Roger enjoyed a lifetime of fishing, boating, snowmobiling and camping with friends and family. He loved local car races, both as a mechanic and a short time as a driver. He became an avid Nascar fan, traveling out of state to enjoy the races with family and friends. Roger always had a smile on his face and a funny story to tell. Through the years, his good natured pranks put a smile on the faces of those who knew him. He will be missed by many and remembered lovingly by all.

He is survived by his sisters Rita A. Morales and husband Edgar of Texas and Louise J. Despres and husband Jerry of Litchfield. He is also survived by his children, Deborah Page and husband Gordon of S. China, Jeffrey LeBel and partner Larry Moreno of Tennessee, Brenda Proulx and husband Michael of Farmingdale, Randy LeBel and wife Jill of Lewiston; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Roger N. LeBel, mother Jeanne (Gagnon) LeBel; and brother Paul R. LeBel, all of Litchfield.
