MEXICO – Beryl Comstock, 96, died peacefully at her home on Saturday Feb. 10, 2024. She resided on Main Street in Mexico.

Beryl was born in Byron, Maine on May 25, 1927, and was a daughter of Urban and Myrtle (Easter) Lohnes. Raising her family was her greatest pride and joy. She loved to travel and visited every state in the US except for two.

She was a longtime volunteer at the Rumford Hospital and the Mexico Congregational Church. She was member of the Eagles Auxiliary, Snowshoe Club, and the Mexico Historical Society. She chaperoned many class trips when her children were in school.

Beryl is survived by her husband of 75 years, Darrold Comstock of Mexico; a son Richard of Byron, a daughter Pam Rowley of Peru; a sister, Elizabeth Textor of Auburn; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Hugh (Harold) Rowley; seven sisters and one brother.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Pineview Cemetery in Roxbury. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford, ME.
