PORTLAND — Cohen Galley scored 37 points, including the 1,000th of his career, as top-ranked Oceanside overcame a slow start to overwhelm eighth-seeded Mountain Valley 87-45 in the finale of four Class B South boys basketball quarterfinals Friday at the Portland Expo.
The milestone points for Cohen Galley came on two free throws with 1:29 remaining, capping a night that saw him time and again shred the Mountain Valley defense.
Oceanside (19-0) will meet fourth-seeded Medomak Valley in the semifinals at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Expo.
Mountain Valley (10-10) was sharp early, taking a surprising 10-0 lead in the first three minutes. But the Mariners never lost their poise, made it 12-12 less than three minutes later, and all but put the game away with a 15-0 run midway through the second that made it 37-18.
Carter Galley, Cohen’s twin brother, added 29 points and Zeb Foster had 11 for Oceanside.
Ben DeSalle, an inside threat, led the Falcons with 15.
