BUCKFIELD — A Buckfield man is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on a charge that he set fire to his home on Depot Street on Sunday.

Clay Jacobs, 46, was arrested late Sunday night on a charge of arson after the Office of the State Fire Marshal determined the fire was intentionally set, according to a statement from Shannon Moss, spokesperson for Maine Department of Public Safety.

He was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris where his bail was set at $50,000 cash.

The fire, which was reported Sunday afternoon, destroyed the mobile home at 69 Depot St.

Chief Nick Merry of Turner Fire & Rescue said one occupant was home when the fire began and escaped without injury. 

Attempts to reach Buckfield Fire Department on Monday were unsuccessful. That department was assisted by others from from Turner, Hebron, Paris and Sumner.
