100 Years Ago: 1924

Byron Plummer, one of Augusta’s popular young men, who is spending the winter in the south, at present being located at Aramond Beach, Florida sent his mother, Mrs. A.L. Plummer of Higgins Street, a crate of oranges and grapefruits recently.

50 Years Ago: 1974

The Garden Club of the Women’s Literary Union have finalized plans for a workshop meeting to take place at 10 am, Thursday, Feb 21 at the WLU Clubrooms, 19 Elm St., Auburn.

Mrs. Charles W. Wight will instruct a group on the making of oriental and dining room table arrangements. She has announced a request that participants in the workshop bring with them low containers, antique glass or potter’s bottles and their mechanics.

Some plant material will be provided, but anyone having any should bring it along to the workshop. All members should bring a sandwich for the noon recess. Dessert and coffee will be served by the hostesses, Mrs. Robert Mercier and Miss Frances Albert.

25 Years Ago: 1999

Two screenings of “Shakespeare in Love” to be shown at the Narrow Gauge Cinema, Sunday, Feb 21 at 1:45 and 4 pm will benefit the Franklin and Somerset counties affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of America.
