JAY —Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 in Jay will be down for repairs due to damage from the December storm. The post will be closed from Feb. 26 to March 21. Reopening on March 22 the menu will be, Crab cakes, fish chowder and dessert. All meals served at 5 p.m., $12. LIVERMORE FALLS — George Bunten Post 10 American Legion  will hold an all you can eat breakfast on Saturday, March 16 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Price $10 donation for adults, $5 for children 10 and under. The menu will feature pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, sausage gravy and buscuits, home fries, muffins, cinnamon rolls, fruit salad, juices, coffee, tea, cocoa, and more. Memorial Day

JAY-LIVERMORE FALLS — Memorial Day parade planning meeting on Tuesday, March 12, 6 p.m. at American Legion, George Bunten Post 10, 17 Reynolds Ave, Livermore Falls. There will be a parade but community help is needed. The meeting is open to any and all interested people who would like to be part of the working committee. Honor Flight

LIVERMORE FALLS — On Thursday, March 14, at 6 p.m., the Chairman of the Board for Honor Flight Maine, Mathew Mank, will be making a presentation about the project taking Veterans to Washington D C “Free” to tour the veteran’s monuments. We are inviting all American Legion Veterans Posts, all Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts, and the AMVETS posts, as well as all general public who want to hear about this great project.  Location: The George Bunton Post 10 American Legion Livermore Falls Maine 17 Reynolds Avenue at 6 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the alternate date will be March 21, same place, same time..

Festival

JAY — The Winter Family Festival and Sled-in will be back Saturday, Feb. 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at French Falls Recreation Area, for the first time since 2020. The Public Works Dept. will create a Snow Mountain, with steps leading to the top. Please bring your own sleds and snowshoes, as there will be a limited number of sleds and snowshoes on site. There will be snowmobile rides provided by the Andy Valley Riders Snowmobile Club. The event will also feature a bonfire, s’mores and hot chocolate. Gigi’s Pizzaroni of Jay will have pizza, soup and desserts for sale.

Lunch

FARMINGTON — Trinity United Methodist Church will be serving Fish Chowder Lunches every Thursday at 11:30 -12:30 p.m. The next lunch will be Feb. 29, until March 28. The lunch includes fish chowder, crackers, pickles, freshly made biscuits, and cookies. These lunches are free. We do accept donations to help with costs for the ingredients to make this available to everyone. Just drive up to the front door of Trinity church and someone will bring your meals to you. Music

FARMINGTON — Monthly Music Jam – (second Friday of every month) – Music Jam Night, March  8, at Farmington Baptist Church, 194 Whittier Rd, Farmington, from 6-8 p.m. downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. Warming

FARMINGTON — Farmington Grange#12 offers The Wednesday Workers and Warm Up, WWW will meet on the first and third (March 6. & March 20) Wednesday of each month. The Farmington Grange Hall at 124 Bridge Street will be open for soup and social time. Folks are invited to bring something to share, or just come to socialize. Games and puzzles are available as well as a small library stocked by literacy volunteers. If someone would like to learn how to knit, crochet or sew, etc., they can get help. Everyone is welcome. FARMINGTON — Come “Beat the Winter Cabin Blues” and join us the Warming Centers which will open at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church (HMBC) in February. On Thursdays during the month of February, HMBC will be hosting a warming center. Warming Centers are free and open to everyone and provide a warm space to gather and meet with friends during the cold winter days. The next one will be Feb 29. Come and do a puzzle, play a game of Scrabble, Cards or Cribbage.

You are welcome to come in the morning for a cup of coffee and a muffin and stay for lunch or just come and enjoy a home cooked meal at noon. Soups, stews, breads, desserts and coffee will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m. HMBC Warming Center is located in the basement of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church, 110 Academy Street, Farmington. Warming Centers open at 9 a.m. and will close at 2 p.m. We will not be open when RSU 9 closes due to bad weather. If you have any questions, please call the church at 778-2163.
