The high school seniors picked for the 2024 Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic game were announced Saturday morning. Between the all-star football and cheer teams for the East and West, there are more than two dozen representatives from schools within the Sun Journal’s coverage area.
The East football team will be led by Mt. Blue head coach Matt Friedman, whose coaching staff also includes Cougars assistant Josh Newhall and Edward Little’s Rick Kramer and Mountain Valley’s Pat Mooney.
The roster for the Eats features nine area players, including three from Oxford Hills and two each from Mt. Blue and Edward Little.
For Edward Little, Gavin Therriault will be playing defensive back and Jack Pepin as linebacker. Jake Carson from Oxford Hills will also be playing linebacker, Holden Shaw will play offensive line and Alex Bartlett will be at defensive line. Friedman will have familiar faces on both sides of the ball, with offensive lineman Warren Allen and linebacker Alex Rackliff on defense.
The East team also includes Lewiston’s Tafari Corson-James and Mountain Valley’s Kaden Paaso, both at running back.
Deering’s Brendan Scully is the head coach of the West team, with Leavitt’s Mike Hathaway and Bill County and Lisbon’s Chris Kates among his staff.
Hathaway’s Hornets have three players on the roster. Fitzpatrick Trophy winner Noah Carpenter will be quarterback, Will Keach is playing slot and Jace Negley will be on the offensive line.
Also one the West team roster, Isaac Ramsdell from Poland will be at defensive back, Oak Hill’s Adam Hinkley will be playing slot, Lisbon’s Adam Haynes will be at defensive back and Winthrop/Monmouth’s Avry Jones will be on the defensive line. Cruze Kimball from Telstar will also be on the defensive line.
Cheerleaders on the West roster include Madelyne Keneborus and Ryleigh Green from Leavitt and Ava Adams from Poland. On the East roster are Kelsea Anderson from Lewiston, Kirstynn Blouin and Celeste Dickey from Mountain Valley, Jenna Pond and Jayla Cuesta from Mt. Blue, Adriana Mills from Oxford Hills and Kathryn Dorey from Spruce Mountain.
Cheer coaches from the Sun Journal area include Spruce Mountain’s Nicole Mason as assistant coach for the East team.
The Lobster Bowl is scheduled will for Saturday, July 20 at 4 p.m. at Lewiston High School’s Don Roux Field. Gates will open at 1 p.m. and tickets can be purchased on the Lobster Bowl Classic Facebook page or by visiting www.maineshrinelobsterbowl.com.
