Danny Danforth of Lewiston searches Monday for birds from the Bernard Lown Peace Bridge between Lewiston and Auburn. He said mergansers, golden eyes and gulls visit the open water when most of the Androscoggin River upstream  and downstream is frozen. A member of the Stanton Bird Club, Danforth said climate change is having an effect on the bird species that visit or stay in Maine. Daryn Slover/Sun Journal
