Lewiston’s Isaiah Harris needed a top-three finish in his semifinal race to advance to the final of the 800-meter run at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.

He came up agonizingly short, finishing fourth Saturday morning in Glasgow, Scotland.

Harris’ time of 1:48.18 was four-hundredths of a second behind the third-place finisher in the first semifinal, Sweden’s Andreas Kramer. Spain’s Mariano Garcia, who Harris finished second to in his heat race Friday, won the first semifinal Saturday.

Harris’ American teammate, Bryce Hoppel, won the second semifinal in the fastest time of the day, 1:45.08. That was a season-best mark for Hoppel.
