BOYTON BEACH, Fla. – Formerly of Auburn, Donald died unexpectedly Saturday, March 2, 2024.
He was born in Lewiston to Raymond and Adrienne (Loubier ) Blais.
As a young man he joined the Army National Guard. He also worked for his father doing plumbing and heating taking over the business in 1981. He later worked for the Auburn School Department as a master plumber.
Deciding he’d had enough of the Maine winters, he moved to Florida where he was a sought-after carpenter remodeling many mobile homes.
In his spare time he rebuilt many older cars and trucks. He loved auto racing and being in the pits at OPS and Beech Ridge.
Don was predeceased by his parents and a brother Michael.
He is survived by his loving wife Bette, two children, Tina Callahan and husband Paul of Poland, Steve and wife Erin of Palm Coast, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jordan and Haydn Dumont, Molly, Kendall and Alexa Blais; one great-granddaughter Aria. He also leaves behind two sisters, Linda (Ernest) Brown of Auburn, Monique Blais of Augusta, niece Jennifer and nephews, Anthony, Mathieu, and Mike.
The family will hold a gathering/reunion at a later date.
Life’s journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out shouting Holy Heck what a ride !!
