Raymond Morin

LEWISTON – Raymond Morin, 91, of Lewiston, passed away on March 11, 2024, at d’Youville Pavilion. He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 11, 1933, the son of Arsene and Yvonne Morin.

Ray attended St. Dom’s High School, class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, from 1953 – 1955. While in the Army, he married Joan St.Hilaire on Oct. 31, 1953, and remained married for 70 years.

Ray’s principal employers were Fleet Bank (and its predecessors) for 30 years, then another 13 years with the Gervais and Martel accounting firm.

Ray and Joan lived in Lewiston all of their married lives, along with being snowbirds, residing in their DelRay Beach Fla. condo for 16 years shortly after retirement.

Ray was a devout Catholic for his entire life, revolving much of his life around Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. One of his claims to fame was singing in the church choir at daily and weekly Mass, weddings and funerals, and notably Christmas Midnight Mass.

Ray was a sports junkie, playing numerous sports through the years; football, basketball, volleyball, handball, horseshoes and his favorites golf and bowling. As a spectator, he relished watching the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Montreal Canadiens.

He is survived by his wife Joan of 70 years; his sons Louis Morin of Greene, Rene Morin and partner Joyce Broadwater of North Yarmouth, Larry Morin of Lewiston, and his daughters Danielle Proulx of Lewiston and Denise Morin of Old Orchard; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Jeannine Chabot (and spouse Joseph Chabot), Marcel Morin (and spouse Constance Morin), Robert Morin, and the Rev. Maurice Morin, as well as brothers-in-law Dennis St.Hilaire, Richard St. Hilaire and Gerald Lavigne, and sister-in-law Joline Pelletier.

The wake and Words of Remembrance will be held at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home in Lewiston, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Pkwy in Lewiston on Friday, March 15, from 9:00-12:15.
