SABATTUS — Town officials are advising of a pair of scams that attempt to bilk money from residents or potential home buyers.

In one scheme, a caller claiming to be from the town office advises that the resident is late on their property taxes and demands payment over the phone.

“The town office does NOT call anyone to tell them that they have taxes due, all tax notifications are made through the mail,” according to a notice posted on the town webpage.

Officials have also been notified locals have seen their homes listed on Facebook Marketplace as being for sale.

“If you see any ads that look fraudulent please report them,” according to the notice, “and do not ever give out any personal information over the phone.”
