LEWISTON — Two Berman & Simmons attorneys have been named to leadership roles in Maine-based advocacy associations.

Elizabeth Kayatta has been elected co-chairwoman of the Women’s Law section of the Maine Bar Association. That section provides a forum for women lawyers to gather for regular educational programs, networking and discussion of issues of interest to women attorneys.

Kayatta’s practice includes personal injury lawsuits arising from medical errors, child sexual abuse, and reckless driving. She is part of a coalition of four law firms assembled to represent victims and their families associated with the Oct. 25 shooting incident in Lewiston.

Chris Boots has been elected as a board member for the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, where he also serves as a Legislative Committee co-chairman. The MTLA is a professional trade organization that provides advocacy, continuing legal education, and public education to Maine attorneys and the people they represent.

Boots represents clients in claims involving personal injury, products liability, and medical malpractice. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a top-rated medical malpractice attorney, and included on the Best Lawyers in America’s “Ones to Watch” list.
