Brian Michael Peppe

AUBURN – Brian Michael “Peppe” Peppe, 54, of Auburn, passed away on Feb. 24, 2024, at CMMC in Lewiston, surrounded by loving family. Born on Dec. 26, 1969, Brian was the second son of proud parents Russ and Jackie. His father was a Methodist minister, and the family lived in Gorham before settling in Auburn when Brian was 4 years old. The family stayed in Auburn through the kids’ high school years.

Brian discovered his love and talent for playing music in middle school when he began drum and guitar lessons that would benefit him through his musical career. Brian had many fond memories playing the bass guitar and drums in Edward Little High School’s band competitions, regularly winning state championships. He and close friends started the popular rock group Vision, where he played guitar, the beginning of his lifelong passion for the instrument. For years after he was in multiple bands, playing around the state of Maine and beyond. These include Strict9, Riot Act, 2nd Shift and Mr. Bones. These talented groups produced lifelong friendships and memories.

Brian’s greatest joys were the birth of his two sons, Michael in February 2000 and Alex in November 2009. He was a very dedicated dad and strove to never miss a medical appointment, parent/teacher meeting, school performance or game. He was so proud, both of his own and his “step” kids.

Brian worked at LL Bean for 32 years, starting in the Bike Shop with his mother before he was promoted by a wonderful mentor and friend to this day, Leslie Harkins, to the Creative Department. His favorite years were spent in “Creative”, where he excelled in MAC support and formed lasting friendships with his colleagues.

Brian was a beautiful person with a gentle manner and a dry wit that would always elicit a smile or chuckle. He was a kind and generous partner, true friend, a fun and humorous uncle, a loyal son, and a committed and empathic dog owner, his animals a central part of each day.

He will be deeply missed by his family, including his partner Hannah Estes; his father Russell Peppe; brother Eric (Helen) Peppe, sister Lisa Parent (Rick Black), stepsister Piper De Freest, (Robin) and her mother Wanda Sprague; two sons Michael (and his mother Shannon Wilson) and Alex, and stepdaughters Robyn (Kit Buda) and Mikaela Estes; and his uncle Richard Peppe.

Brian is preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline Peppe; his grandparents Nelson and Andy Nunan, and Lillian and Michael Peppe; his aunt Joyce Mercier, his uncle Gerry Nunan and his aunt Diane Peppe.

A Celebration of Life for Brian will be held on March 30 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Auburn. Arrangements are entrusted to Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, Saco.
