Emile G. Barre

RUMFORD – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Emile G. Barre, 89, on Sunday March 24, 2024, at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was a lifelong resident of Rumford.

Emile was born in Rumford, on July 12, 1934, and was a son of Albert and Rosa (Grenier) barre. He was a graduate of Stephens High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He worked for Boise cascade in the Utility Department and was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior St. Athanasius St. John Church.

Survivors include his sons, Donald of Minnesota, Michael and wife Joan of Mexico, Paul and companion Barbara of Naples, Fla., Daniel and his companion Kathy of Auburn; daughters, Theresa Welch and husband Tim of Lewiston and Carol Barre of Auburn, four grandchildren and his longtime companion of 31 years Noela Taylor of Rumford.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Parish of The Holy Savior St. Athanasius St. John Church, 126 Maine Ave., Rumford. Friends are invited to call at the Meader & Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin Street, Rumford, on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. Interment in the spring will be in St. John Cemetery.
