News from the Age-Friendly Community
Coming up in early May, AFCI will partner with Telstar High School’s Handy Neighbor Day of Service event. Over two days THS students, staff, and community volunteers will fan out to provide such services as spring yard cleanup to citizens who request it. The students also receive community service credit for it at school. Watch for more info on this.
The Age-Friendly Community ‘Walk the Gym’ program at the Gould Field House will continue through late April as long as there are people to walk – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 to 2 p.m. After the program wraps up for the season, we urge walkers to take advantage of the outdoor walking trails in the area. Trail maps are available: the Bethel walking map, maps of the Valentine Farm trails from the Mahoosuc Land Trust, and of the Bethel Community Forest from Inland Woods & Trails.
N2N, our Neighbor to Neighbor free rides program, helps community members get to a wide variety of activities, as well as visit friends. We can also deliver library books or groceries from Mainely Provisions. Just call our N2N service number (below) and leave a message with your ride request and contact information. Someone will get back to you to make arrangements.
N2N needs volunteer drivers and people to serve as call coordinators, which involves responding to our phone-answering machine requests and requires only minimal computer skills.
