AUBURN — The city has issued a traffic alert Thursday for motorists driving on Center Street near Kentucky Fried Chicken and EyeMart because of potentially tire-damaging potholes.

“Motorists should use caution traveling on Center Street in Auburn today, paying close attention to lane closures in the right-hand lane of Center Street northbound. The closures are in the area of 63 (near KFC) and 363 Center Street (near EyeMart),” according to the alert.

The announcements said the potholes wouldn’t be fixed until the rain stops, which could be through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

“These lane closures are in place to help prevent tire damage from potholes. They will remain in place until repairs can be made by the team at Auburn Public Works. Motorists are reminded to slow down and be patient with other drivers — especially when merging,” the alert said.
