Malcolm Roosevelt Webber

MADRID – Malcolm Roosevelt Webber, a lifelong resident of Madrid, Maine, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, at the age of 91 in Auburn. Born on Oct. 6, 1932, Malcolm’s life was rooted in the community he loved, and his dedication to his family was unwavering.

Malcolm was the beloved husband of Joanne, with whom he shared 72 years of marriage filled with love and commitment. A true woodsman at heart, his laughter was as robust as the timber he worked with, and his hands were rarely still, always finding joy in creating useful things out of wood and the pleasure of golf with friends. Malcolm was a lifelong member of the Oddfellows, and an avid snowmobiler and four-wheel rider, feeder of birds and catcher of fish. He was a champion horseshoer and a devoted fan of the Red Sox and cowboy shows. Malcolm deeply enjoyed his life in the Maine woods on the backside of Saddleback Mountain along the Conant Stream.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joanne; his sons, Gregory (Hanah), Keith (Clare), and Darren (Judy); grandchildren, Christina, George, Katherine, Tina-Marie, Carlene, Doyal, Darren II, Anthony; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Malcolm was predeceased by his parents, Roosevelt and Lillian Webber; his siblings, Virginia, Evelyn, and Melvyn; and two infant sons.

Malcolm was a faithful member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Phillips and the Church in the Wildwood in Madrid where he found a sense of peace as well as community. His keen sense of memory and attention to detail made him a natural storyteller, especially when recounting the many journeys he had taken.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a Graveside Service at Evergreen Cemetery in Phillips, Maine, on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 3 p.m.

Malcolm’s legacy of laughter, love for nature, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His passage leaves a void in the community that will be deeply felt.
