LEWISTON — The LA Metro Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of the organization’s 2024 annual awards.

The Ray Geiger Chamber Champion award — the highest honor — goes to Mark Adam, president and CEO of Sebago Technics Inc., an engineering and land development firm. The award is presented to an individual who has invested a great deal of time, energy and resources into furthering the LA Metro Chamber’s mission and working toward bettering the communities.

The Theresa Samson Women’s Business Leadership award goes to Chantel Pettengill, the founder and co-owner of Pettengill Academy, an early learning child care center that specializes in infant, toddler and preschool-age care. This annual award helps inspire the continued growth of women leading businesses in the community.

This year’s Ken Additon Economic Development Champion goes to Mark Rodrigue, the owner of Rogue Life Maine, Rogue Wear, and Maine Awards. This award is given to a business, agency, organization, community or nonprofit corporation whose work or investments have positively contributed to the economic health of the region.

The Leading Through Change award goes to the Panolam Surface Systems Leadership Team, consisting of John Eberly, the operations manager, Brad Trip, the materials manager, and Susan Hagerstrom, the company’s local human resources manager. This award is given to a chamber member whose leadership excelled at navigating change, who displayed adaptive qualities and acted nimbly to respond to the needs of their team, business, and/or community, and who led with both confidence and vulnerability.

The Heart of the Community award goes to Sonia Bermonty, the founder of Operation You Matter, and Greg Whitney, president of The Drop-In Center. The award honors an outstanding individual or individuals that give their passion, time and expertise to the community and enhances the quality of life.

The President’s award goes to Cara Cookson, the director of victim services in the Office of the Maine Attorney General, and Neil Kiely, the chief executive officer of Androscoggin Bank.

The awards ceremony is planned for June 20 from 3-6:30 p.m. at the Poland Spring Resort.
