Robert M. Ayotte

SABATTUS – Robert M. Ayotte, 83, a resident of Sabattus, passed away on Wednesday April 10, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on Dec. 13, 1940, to the late William and Ida (Gagnon) Ayotte. He was the youngest of six siblings.

He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1960. He joined the Air Force right after and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in August of 1963.

Bob held many jobs in his lifetime working for Maine Electronics in Lisbon and Country Kitchen making doughnuts. He also worked at Commercial Rubber before marrying Jeannine Pelletier Ayotte in 1968. After that, we went to work for American Concrete for 23 years, then for Nordx as a courier for 18 years until his retirement at 72.

After his retirement he joined the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 156.

Bob liked to read, play cards, joke around, and pick on everybody including his minister whom he served at Our Lady of Rosary and at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was a PURE Catholic at heart until the end receiving communion every week. While in church, you could see him being a sacristan, greeter, lector and extraordinary minister.

Bob would give you the shirt off his back to anyone who would need it. In the summer when it was lawn mowing time, he was meticulous. Everything had a place. His property was spotless. He would also help clean the neighbors property when he was able to. They were very grateful for his assistance. He loved all his neighbors, even the ones he did not get along with.

He loved all his nieces and nephews equally. He most enjoyed his visits with his nephew Ron when he would travel to his house for his weekly coffee and bull session with him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jeannine F. Ayotte of 55 years; his daughter, AnnMarie Maxwell and her husband Randy of Wales, his son, William Ayotte and wife Alex of Texas; his sister, Jeannine and her husband Norman Berube of Lewiston and his brother, Henry Ayotte and wife Joanne of Florida, and a brother-in-law, Paul Pelletier of Auburn.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Roger and sister-in-law, Rolande, a brother, William and sister-in-law, Jeannine, a sister, Jackie Morin and brother-in-law Bob, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bert and Anita Pelletier and sister-in-law, Eileen Pelletier.

God has given you your wings, go be happy and pain free with your family. Love You Forever.
