Some people think Republicans do better than Democrats with the U.S. economy. I’ve been doing some reading on that topic.
Benjamin Fearnow of Newsweek wrote an article on Feb. 2, 2o21 titled “U.S. Jobs, Income, GDP growth ‘Startingly’ Higher under Democratic presidents.”
A New York Times article by David Leonhardt states that “since 1933, the economy has grown at an average annual rate of 4.6% under Democratic presidents and 2.4% under Republicans.”
Ernie Tedeschi of Yale says the increase in immigrants since 2020 has supplied new workers, who create goods and services and then spend money on products and services, which improves our economy.
Factcheck.org reports the trade deficit under Donald Trump increased by 40.5% and three million additional people had no health care. Trump has added $7.8 trillion to our national debt.
Republicans help the rich and large corporations by cutting their taxes, but unfortunately that doesn’t really help the rest of us.
