AUBURN — Edward Little’s bats kept finding the ball Friday in a 7-2 KVAC softball win over Messalonskee at Central Maine Community College.

A 14-hit effort boosted the Red Eddies (1-1) over the Eagles (0-2).

Edward Little’s offensive attack was highlighted by Emily Horton’s two-run double in the second inning and Izzy Jalbert’s two-run triple in the fourth.

Jalbert also doubled and singled. Her three hits tied Kylee Lebrun for the game-high. Naomi Valcin, Leah Thibodeau and Kassidy Lobb each tallied two hits. Lobb also pitched all seven innings for the Eddies, striking out two and allowing five hits.

Messalonskee pitcher Maddi Wilson doubled and drove in both of the Eagles’ runs, and Lexi Bayne had a pair of hits.

LEAVITT 14, CAPE ELIZABETH 3: Sam Deblois hit a grand slam as part of a three-hit, seven-RBI game as the Hornets (2-0) downed the Capers (0-2) in five innings in Turner.

Cape Elizabeth was held to one hit by Finn Gilbert but scored three runs in the top of the first. Leavitt responded with five runs in the bottom half, then added three in the second and six in the third.

Hailey Cyr earned the win with 4 2/3 innings of relief, allowing the lone Capers hit and striking out seven.

GREELY 11, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 9: Haley Stewart totaled three RBI on a pair of singles, and Fiona MacArthur made a game-saving catch in the seventh inning as the Rangers (1-1) edged the Patriots (0-2) in Cumberland.

Maisie Lerette produced a single and a two-run homer for Gray-New Gloucester, but her bid for a second home run was denied by MacArthur’s catch for the final out of the game, after the Patriots had scored five runs to trim an 11-4 deficit.

MacArthur also had two hits. The Patriots got two hits from Mackenzie Gervais.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 7, LISBON 5: The Mustangs (1-0) pulled past the Greyhounds (0-1) with a four-run fourth inning in Monmouth.

Monmouth plated three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 3-1 lead, but Lisbon tied the game with two runs in the third and scored another run to go up 4-3 in the top of the fourth.

Shannah Parsons tripled, singled and drove in two runs for the Mustangs. She also earned the win by pitching seven innings and striking out eight batters. Bella Lyons and Mati Conde each hit a double.

Bella Pomerleau tallied two hits for Lisbon.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 13, TELSTAR 2: Jaydn Pingree, Makinlee Holt, Leah Burgess and Devin Bryant each tallied two RBIs for the Phoenix, leading them to victory over the Rebels in Jay.

Spruce Mountain (1-0) scored eight runs in the second inning.

One of Pingree’s hits was a triple. Rylee Turner had a double and earned the win in the circle by striking out 10 batters while surrendering three hits and two runs and walking one over five innings.

Morgan Zetts, Cadence Campbell and Makenzie Eliot each tallied a hit for the Rebels (1-1).

BASEBALL
POLAND 14, MEDOMAK VALLEY 12: A six-run fifth inning put the Knights (1-1) ahead for good in a win over the Panthers (0-1) at Waldoboro.

Poland opened the game with six runs in the top of the first, but Medomak Valley compiled 11 runs over the next four innings to go ahead 11-8.

Sam Paladino collected four hits, including a double, to lead the Knights. Landon Cooper had three hits, and Alex Mains hit a double and a single.

Medomak’s Kristian Schuman had three hits, including one of his team’s four doubles. Porter Gahagan contributed a double and a single.

CAPE ELIZABETH 4, LEAVITT 0: Brady Inman allowed one hit over six innings while collecting three hits at the plate as the Capers (2-0) shut out the Hornets (1-1) in Turner.

Gabe Harmon also had three hits and drove in two runs. He pitched the seventh to close out the win.

Noah Carpenter took the loss, giving up three runs in four innings.

GREELY 10, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Keeler Vogt threw a perfect game, striking out six batters, as the Rangers (2-0) blanked the Patriots (0-2) in five innings at Cumberland.

Wyatt Soucie was 3 for 3 with two RBI and three runs scored. Ethan Robeck hit a double and had three RBI.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 13, LISBON 3: The Mustangs scored six runs in the second inning, with three of those coming off a single by Kyle Palleschi, in their five-inning win over the Greyhounds in Monmouth.

Monmouth (1-0) added five runs on four hits in the third inning, and finished off the victory with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Sammy Calder doubled and drove in three runs for the Mustangs. Calder, Lucas Harmon and Noah Schultz and Jake Harmon each tallied two hits for the Mustangs. Lucas Harmon and Schultz also doubled.

As pitcher, Calder surrendered two hits and one run over 2 1/3 innings, striking out five and walking two.

Pitcher Jimmy Fitzsimmons took the loss for Lisbon. He struck out four batters in two innings.

Cody Osmond, Jacoby Tuplin, Brayden Decato and Keeghan Morrissette each logged one hit for the Greyhounds (1-1).

MESSALONSKEE 13, EDWARD LITTLE 3: The Eagles (2-0) pulled away in the late innings to topple the Red Eddies (0-2) at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

Denny Martin delivered two hits, including a double, two RBIs and also pitched in relief of starter Garrett Card, who struck out four and gave up one hit in four innings. Card scored three runs to help his cause. Jordan Lewis hit a double and closed out the win on the mound. Parker Reynolds drove in two runs and Cash Bizier and Michael Achorn had two hits apiece.

Eli St. Laurent hit a triple and scored two runs for Edward Little. He was dealt the loss on the mound after Messalonskee took the lead in the fourth. Brooks Beaudry and TJ Kramarz doubled for the Red Eddies.

GIRLS LACROSSE
WELLS 14, ST. DOM’S/OAK HILL 0: Ellie Moore led the Warriors (1-0) with four goals and four assists in a win over the Saints (0-2) in Auburn.

Kendall Maxon added two goals and three assists. Kayla Bolton made 10 saves for the shutout.

BOYS LACROSSE
MARANACOOK/WINTHROP 16, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 5: Owen Lyons tallied eight assists and a game-high four goals for the Hawks, and Ethan Chilton matched that game-high four goals and added two assists in the road win in Fryeburg.

Jacob Lyons and Bennett Ross each chipped in two goals, and Spencer Fike and Parker Douin finished with one goal apiece for Maranacook/Winthrop (2-0).

The Raiders (0-1) opened their season with a loss, falling behind 3-0 before they could get anything going.
