A. Bernice Kehn

OTISFIELD – A. Bernice Kehn, 81, of North Norway and Otisfield, passed away on March 16, 2024, after a battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was born in East Andover on Nov. 6, 1942, the daughter of Francis Edmond and Hannah Mae (Farrington) Chenery Maddix.

Bernice grew up in East Andover and had fond memories and some lifelong friends there. She attended Maine Medical Center School of Nursing and St. Joseph’s College. Bernice was a staff nurse and worked in surgical services for 46 years, at Houlton Regional Hospital, St. Andrews Hospital, Boothbay Harbor, NCMH-Bridgton, Stephens Memorial Hospital and Central Maine Hospital.

Bernice was a world traveler and loved global cuisine, and she had fun trying to replicate this at home for friends and loved ones. She enjoyed singing in the choir and her church community at Christ Episcopal Church in Norway. Bernice was described by a former Rector of her church as “a gentle, kind soul” and “a stunning child of God”. She loved the Red Sox and couldn’t miss a game on television, she was an avid gardener, loved to read and walk in the woods with her westies.

Bernice is survived by her son Kevin Tuttle and his wife Debbie of Windham, daughter Catherine Tuttle and her fiancé Scott Parsons of Otisfield, stepdaughter Patricia Suzanne and her two children Elizabeth and Mimi Baumhoff, stepdaughter Andree Kehn and her partner Mitch Miller; a loving and spirited 6-year-old westie Aengus; along with many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Theodore Kehn; her parents; and four siblings Pearl M. Elliott, Ruth H. Sherwood, Wilber E. Chenery and Sherman F. Maddix.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Lakeview Cemetery, Watson Road, Norway.
