AUBURN — Edward Little scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn a big early-season win over Oxford Hills in Class A softball action at Central Maine Community College.

Naomi Valcin tripled and scored on a passed ball to lead off the fateful frame for the Red Eddies (2-1). Kassidy Lobb doubled home two runs, Mackenzie Grenier doubled in another then stole third and scored the final run on Tiana Avila’s single. Lobb earned the pitching win, striking out six in seven innings.

Kyeria Morse struck out nine batters for Oxford Hills, and also collected two hits at the plate. Gigi DeVivo, Tristen Derenburger and Cameron Mayhan also had two hits for the Vikings (2-1), who held leads of 3-0 and 5-2.

DIRIGO 17, TELSTAR 2: The Cougars (1-0) sent 12 runs across the plate in the fourth inning to break open their season opener against the Rebels (1-2) in Bethel.

Aleiah Ward hit a triple and a double and drove in three runs for Dirigo. Alyssa Ellis tallied a double, two singles and two RBIs, and Lana Waite drove in four runs. Waite also earned the pitching win, tossing all five innings while scattering four hits and a walk and striking out 12.

Mackenzie Eliot hit a double for Telstar. Taejah Lego came off the bench and drove in a run.

FREEPORT 5, POLAND 3: Izzy George pitched a four-hitter and the Falcons (2-0) went ahead for good with a two-run fifth inning against the visiting Knights (1-2) in Freeport.

George also had two hits. Celia Cobb doubled and scored, and Ali Brown walked and came around in the fifth for Freeport.

MONMOUTH 18, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 4: The Mustangs (2-0) plated 15 runs over the final three innings to rumble past the Falcons (0-2) in Dixfield.

Monmouth led 3-2 then scored five in the fifth, three in the sixth and seven in the seventh.

Riley Smith tripled and doubled for the Mustangs. Hayli Parson tallied three singles and Bella Lyons two. Shannah Parsons also had a triple, and she pitched all seven innings to earn her second win of the season.

SACOPEE VALLEY 21, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 18: The Hawks overcame a 13-run first inning by the Patriots to earn a win in Gray in their first game of the season.

Sacopee Valley (1-0) had a pair of big innings, scoring eight runs in the top of the first and nine in the fifth.

Brianna Eastman and Lindsey Fox led the Hawks with four hits apiece. Eastman also drove in five runs, and two of her hits were doubles. Emma Boulanger (three hits) Julia Tuthill and Caroline Cyr also doubled.

Audrey Getchell and Mackenzie Gervais each drove in five runs for Gray-New Gloucester (0-3). Valerie Farrar tallied five hits, Gervais and Ryenne Grant had three and Audrey Getchell and Destiny Ayers had two apiece.

OAK HILL 11, LISBON 9: Aubrey McElhaney singled home two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Raiders a walk-off win over the Greyhounds in a back-and-forth battle in Wales.

Lisbon (1-2) scored the first four runs of the game, then Oak Hill (2-0) plated eight unanswered runs to lead 8-4 after four innings. Four runs in the fifth and another in the sixth put the Greyhounds back in front, 9-8.

Oak Hill’s Carlee Austin drew a walk in the bottom of the seventh and worked her way around the bases to score the tying run and set up McElhaney’s heroics.

McElhaney finished with three hits, including a double, three RBIs and two runs. Austin tripled and singled, scored twice and drove in a couple of runs. Sydney Wood also drove in two runs, while Izzy Whitaker contributed a triple and Saryn Blais had a double.

Amelia Harvey led Lisbon with three hits, one a double, and three RBIs. Sophia Bowie hit an inside-the-park home run, Elle Burkhardt tripled and drove in four runs. Burkhardt, Bowie, Brooke Norman, Alivia Field and Aubriana Bright had two hits apiece for the Greyhounds.

BASEBALL
FREEPORT 2, POLAND 1: Arlo Boutureira led the Falcons (2-0) with two base hits and an RBI against the visiting Knights (0-2) in Freeport.

Aaron Converse allowed two hits, no earned runs, walked two and struck out seven for Freeport. Jacob Cass notched a double.

Jacob Verrill picked up his first varsity hit for Poland, while Adam Gwarjanski suffered the loss on the mound.

LEAVITT 17, WATERVILLE 0: Freshman pitcher Trent Holst pitched a five-inning perfect game, striking out 11 batters in the Hornets’ win over the Purple Panthers in Waterville.

Leavitt’s offense gave Holst plenty of run support, scoring six in the top of the first and eight more in the top of the second. Luke Gladu and Reid Sibley had two hits apiece, with one of Gladu’s a double. Noah Carpenter added a triple.

MONMOUTH 5, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Kyle Palleschi pitched a two-hit shutout as the Mustangs (2-0) blanked the Falcons (0-2) in Mountain Valley’s home opener played at Harlow Park in Dixfield.

Palleschi struck out 11 batters and walked one. At the plate, he hit a double. Lucas Harmon had three hits, while Sammy Calder and Rory Foyt each tallied two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base for Monmouth.

Josh Pollis had one of Mountain Valley’s two hits and pitched five innings on the mound, giving up two earned runs while collecting six strikeouts and one walk. Seneca Jones pitched two scoreless innings of relief, striking out one.

SACOPEE VALLEY 12, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 5: Caleb Vacchiano blasted two home runs and finished with five RBI as the Hawks (1-1) downed the Patriots (0-3) in nine innings at Gray.

Bryce Stacey notched two RBI on three hits and Braiden Croteau drove in a pair for Sacopee, which won it with a seven-run ninth.

Griffin Richmond finished with three singles and Jason Michaud had two RBI for Gray-New Gloucester.

TELSTAR 1, DIRIGO 0: Al Ballou hit a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to end a shutout and send the Rebels (1-0) past the Cougars (0-1) in both teams’ season opener in Bethel.

Brody Walker earned the win, striking out 10 and walking one batter in seven innings. At the plate, Walker hit two doubles and one single.

Trevor Crosby pitched well for Dirigo, striking out nine and walking four batters in five innings.

MARANACOOK 10, WINTHROP 5: Three pitchers combined on a four-hitter to pace the Black Bears to the win in Readfield.

Maranacook (2-0) stole 11 bases, including Kody Goucher’s steal of home.

Jaxon August had two singles for the Ramblers (1-1).

OAK HILL 11, LISBON 4: Landon Bangs pitched the Raiders recorded their second win of the season by defeating the Greyhounds in Wales.

Bangs struck out seven batters in five innings on the mound. At the plate, he tallied two hits and scored three runs for Oak Hill (2-0). Trent Drouin had a two-run double and Eli Gosselin cleared the bases with a three-run double.

Lisbon’s (1-2) Jimmy Fitzsimmons and Brayden Decoto each had two hits. Cody Osmond pitched six innings for the Greyhounds.

BUCKFIELD 12, CARRABEC 3: The Bucks were victorious in the program’s first game since 2021, beating the Cobras in Buckfield.

Buckfield (1-0) pitcher Gabe White earned the win by striking out 13 batters and allowing only one run in five innings. He also had a team-high three hits. Catcher Brayden Jack added a double.

Trenton Smith had three hits for Carrabec (0-1), and William Lawrence had two hits, including a double. Logan Caldwell also hit a double.

GIRLS LACROSSE
WINDHAM 20, LEWISTON 3: Abby Trainor totaled seven goals and an assist, and Morgan Mclain and Macie Ennis each scored three goals, lifting the Eagles (3-1) over the Blue Devils (1-3) in Windham.

Emma Ammons and Mallory Muse each scored twice for Windham.
