PARIS — The Paris Hill community will be sponsoring a new and unique golf retreat for breast cancer survivors this coming June 7 at the Paris Hill Country Club and Paris Hill Academy. The retreat is free to the first 18 breast cancer survivors who sign up. The program was developed by local resident and breast cancer survivor Linda Richardson in cooperation with the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine.

The one-day retreat introduces breast cancer survivors to the therapeutic advantages of the sport of golf. No golf experience is necessary as the morning is devoted to hands-on golf instruction and after lunch, the afternoon workshops address the benefits of mindfulness, somatic movement, yoga, and meditation. Afternoon classes are taught by Kat Larson, a certified oncology yoga instructor.

As breast cancer survivors, we learn to embrace new challenges and adventures with an open mind and a willingness to try new things that will enrich our lives. With that in mind, the only prerequisite for this unique retreat is wanting to have fun. For more information and to sign up for the retreat, please call the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine at (207) 890-0329.
