FARMINGTON – Helen (James) Hall, 88, of Jay, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center. She was born on Dec. 14, 1935, a daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Smith) James.

Helen grew up and attended school in Jay, later moving to Freeport. She worked at Freeport Shoe where she met her husband, Robert. They married on May 21, 1954, at the James Family Farmhouse in Jay.

Helen and Robert moved back to Jay, and both started working at Farmington Shoe. Helen also worked at Wilson’s 5 and 10 in Livermore Falls until the store closed. She then went to work at Laverdiere’s Drug Store in Farmington and also cleaned homes.

She enjoyed spending time at camp on Sand Pond with family and friends, family trips to Disney World, Sea World, and Busch Gardens where she would admire the flowers and all the decorations. Her favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas which was made apparent by her various outdoor decorations, holiday blowups, and light displays.

Helen loved to be outside tending to her gardens. Her flower and vegetable gardens brought her so much joy. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She was a wonderful mom, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her sons, Stephen Hall and wife Robin and Robert “Scott” Hall and wife Wendy; a daughter-in-law, Julie Becker and husband Chris; her grandchildren, who hold a very special place in her heart, Stephen, Shawn, Scott, Eric, Kelly Jo, Bruce Jr. “BJ”, Katie, and Scottie; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her son, Bruce E. Hall; her parents; a grandson, Brandon Hall; and her 10 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Augusta Health and Rehabilitation, the staff at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, and their neighbors Marsha and Charlie, Pauline and Doug, Mike and Roxanne, Carol, and Josh and Ginny for all their help and support along the way.

Family and friends are invited to attend Helen’s funeral service on Sunday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center, 308 Franklin Rd., Jay, ME 04239.
