Textile Art by Kathy Beauregard
NORWAY — The Western Maine Art Group will host a First Friday Reception featuring the artwork of Kathy Beauregard from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 3rd. The Main Street Gallery is located at 426 Main Street in Norway. Kathy is Western Maine Art Group’s Artist of the Month.
The event is free and a great opportunity to meet many of the painters and artists who exhibit at the gallery. Kathy is a textile artist, using embroidery, upcycled silks and a colorful palette of collaged and patchworked textiles. The exhibit called “In Awe” includes images of water, forests, sun and clouds. The exhibit is dedicated to the women in her life who taught her needlework skills and were deeply inspired by the beauty in the natural world. Kathy’s work is abstract in design and often inspired by dreams or poetic images, like a comet crossing the sky, a still walk in the forest, the dynamic ocean. A few earlier pieces will be exhibited, inspired by her study of ancient goddess embroidery.
The Main Street Gallery at 426 Main Street in Norway is part of the local Western Maine Art Group representing a longstanding exposition of regional artists which invites the public to explore and collect fine art made in the western mountains.
