MINOT — Local officials Monday approved the lowest bid for paving a total of 2.2 miles of town roads this summer.

P & B Paving Inc. of Gray is expected to be awarded the $243,200 job once Highway Director Scott Parker signs off, according to Town Administrator Danielle Loring.

At its regular biweekly meeting, the Select Board reviewed six bids for paving Shaw Hill Road and Center Minot Hill Road from Cross Road to Jackson Hill Road. The bids ranged from $243,200 to $298,738, Loring said.

Board members also reviewed two bids for gravel, which will be used for dirt road repairs and road construction, as well as driveway culverts and ditching projects, Loring said.

The lowest bidder for gravel was Pike Industries of Westbrook. They offered to provide 100 tons at $13.30 per ton. The company will be awarded the bid once Parker has signed, Loring said.

In other business, the town’s hiring committee will conduct its second round of interviews for a full-time fire chief before making its recommendation to the Select Board, Loring said.
